Tip of the Month

Baby Makes Three!
Yes you can take an infant kayaking, but not on just any water, not in any kayak and not at anytime. First have a properly fitted infant life jacket and make it a fun experience to put it on and wear it. Second, chose a calm enclosed body of water then check the weather and water conditions to be sure it is a nice calm day. Now chose a stable kayak. We installed extra hooks to the center deck area of this tandem SOT and added a seat in the middle. Turning it backwards to face a parent makes baby feel more secure and if needed, allows a parent to comfort baby while the person in front still paddles. Do NOT belt the child to the kayak. We all have to be able to float freely in the event of a capsize. The baby life jacket has great floatation. Now go have fun!
